There's a plethora of choice in the market but let us break it down for you. Primarily, there are 3 types of floor mats being carpet, rubber and more recently, TPE. Each have their advantages as follows.

Still confused? Here's our recommendation. If you stick to city driving and your RAV4 doesn't get a lot of use (shock! horror!), carpet may be the way to go. They're soft under the feet, cheap and easy to replace. On the other hand, they do stain easily, not waterproof and take a long time to clean - so saving money may not be the only factor.
Next level up is either rubber or TPE. They're good for off-road use and tradies on the job. Although a wee bit more expensive, they protect from spills and are easy to clean. However, rubber mats usually come with shallow lips so it won't protect against major spills or torrential Queensland rains. Only TPE can be molded 3D with deeper walls to hold more liquid.
Loose mats are annoying. They shift around and never quite cover spots that need it the most. Even car mats that are custom made tend to leave large gaps around the edges for mud and dirt to trickle onto the carpet floor. But not Bucket Mats.

It's easy. Vacuum or take them out and give them a spank. With no carpet pile, most of the dirt will come straight off. For a big mess, we recommend wiping with a cloth or hosing them down with water. Thereafter, let them dry before putting them back in. Avoid using turps, chemical or harsh cleaners. You can of course use standard household detergent but usually, plain water will do just fine.
